Induction of New Buses:

With the goal of providing "More Buses, Good Buses" to traveling public, GSRTC inducted 8341 new buses in last six years at the cost of Rs.1159.76 Cr with the help of Government loan. It has also introduced new types of services including sleeper coaches, AC coaches and high- end luxury coaches for long distances.

GSRTC has planned for induction of new buses to reach the fleet size of 10,000 buses by 2015-2016.

GSRTC will introduce 2850 new buses in 2011-12 for which government has provided budgetary support of Rs.440 Cr.

Capacity Building/Restructuring:
  • Computerized Conductor Way Bill Accounting System in all Depots
  • Monthly/Student Pass in all Depots are computerized
  • Computerized Stores Inventory Management System
  • Electronic Ticketing Machines on all schedules
  • Employees P.F. , Pay Bill etc are computerized
  • E-tendering
  • Internet based Online Passenger Reservation System (E-ticketing)
  • “Automatic Driver Testing System”  for driving skill test
  • “Online Recruitment of staff” for all category
  • For the improvement of work efficiency in employees of the Corporation, 25000 employees have been given training of V-Governance.
  • Obtained ISO certificates for Central Workshop-Ahmedabad, Divisional workshop and Depot Mehsana. Plan to obtain ISO certificates for major bus stations and depots.
Infrastructural Development: 
  • 22 new bus terminals have been constructed and made operational at the cost of Rs.15.32 Crore.
  • 26 Urban and 13 Rural pick up stands have been constructed from the fund of M.L.A./ M.P./N.G.Os.
  • Under "Nirmal Gujarat 2007", GSRTC has taken special drive for upgradation of its bus terminals to improve infrastructural facilities and public amenities like toilet blocks, Drinking water facilities, Seating arrangement, Citizen Service Center, Road pavement, Signages, Time-Table etc.
  • GSRTC has undertaken major initiative to develop state-of-art bus terminals all over Gujarat by attracting private investment through Public-Private-Partnership. A pilot project covering seven bus terminals, two at Ahmedabad, two at Surat, two at Baroda and one at Mehsana is to start soon. Plan to upgrade other 22 bus stations under PPP.
  • Satellite bus stations at Subhashbridge & Krishnanagar (Ahmedabad), Nizampura (Baroda) and Udhana (Surat).
Passenger Friendly measures &  introduction of new schemes:
  • Monthly/Quarterly pass scheme at the rate of 50% fare for daily commuters.
  • Free traveling for village girl students.
  • Travel in express buses at ordinary fares up to the distance of 30 kms.
  • Free traveling age limit for children has been increased from 3 years to 5 years.
  • Free luggage carrying capacity has been increased from 15 kg. to 25 kg per passenger.
  • Concession on Return Journey Ticket, Group booking Tickets and also Weekly travel Scheme at the rate of Rs.700. 
  • Introduce scheme of Private Booking Agents at the door step of traveling public.
